Inspired by this video, I propose, an OSA video challenge.
Mission: Deadlift 500 lbs as many times as possible
Execution: Grow a pair and lift.
Rules: Straps Yes, Suits No, Lifter must not remove hands from bar and may continue lifting until failure, or 3 minutes have passed.
Deadline: January 19th 2011
Any suggestions?
I would say 4 weeks should give everyone enough time to work this into their training.
If power hitching is allowed Skaarup is in.
If slamming the weight off the floor is allowed then Foley is in.
If lifting the weight 4" off the floor counts as a rep then I'm in.
I'll do this over the next week or so. Not sure how many reps to shoot for really...I recall doing 31 reps with 400lbs in my second comp at Andy's in woodstock. That was with an axle and tires so and lots of bouncing...could be interesting.
Question: if a lifter were to take an extended break (many minutes) in a resting position but with their hands still on the bar....would they be allowed to complete more reps?

No way to extended breaks of many minutes. Max 3 min (180s) time limit for this. I can't see anyone really having any real strength left after the lactic acid sets in after the 90s mark anyways...
Ok guys, I was supposed to do legs tonight but I decided to go for the 500lbs DL for reps. My plan was to do 20 reps with one break at around 15 or 16 reps. Things went pretty good and I did the 20 reps. Here's the video.
I'm in. I will go closer to the deadline since I've been obsessed with pressing and chinup gaiety lately and need to get the pulling groove back. I also want: age, weight, job and hair length categories or I'm gonna whine like a little bitch if I get beat. Actually, after seeing Luke's vid, I'm beat already.
