<105kg OSM

Post by The Iron Viking » Tue Jan 21, 2014 10:04 am

Hi guys, I’m looking to gauge interest in the 105kg OSM. If we get enough interest we will award the title as outlined below. Please let me know if you would be interested in competing for the <105kg OSM title.

The OSM organizing committee for 2014, Kyle, Tony and myself, are considering the possibility of awarding a under 105kg OSM title for the first time. The format that we are proposing would be that all 105kg athletes weigh in the night before the contest between 5 to 8pm and then compete in the same events with the same weights as all other competitors. The progress of the 105kg athletes would be tracked separately with the intent of awarding the OSM <105kg crown to the top placing athlete from that category. This element would be an additional layer to the competition and would not interfere in any way with the events, the weights or the overall goal of putting forward the top two Ontario athletes to compete at the 2014 Canada’s Strongest Man competition. Should none of the 105kg athletes fail to make the top 12 on the second day, then the 105kg OSM title would be awarded based on their performance in the five events on day 1. Again, all weights and events would be the same for the 105kg athletes as for the open contest. In addition to the title of 105kg OSM, we would also have a trophy and extra cash prize of $250 to $300. To get a sense for the type weights and events, here are the events for 2013.

Last Year’s Events
Day 1
• 900lbs tire flip x 100ft. Planning for head to head event.
• Farmer’s Walk- 310lbs per hand x 160ft. Turn at 80ft. planning for head to head event.
• Circus Dumbbell Press for reps- 160lbs x max reps. planning for head to head event.
• Car Deadlift- 800lbs for reps.
• Atlas Stone Over Bar- Approx 390lbs stone for reps over 56” bar. May have a 350lbs stone available for reduced points to avoid zeros.

Day 2
• Truck Pull- rope and harness for 100ft
• Log press for max weight- open at 300lbs and increase by 20lbs increments.
• Medley- three parts. Possibly carry, drag, press
• Object Loading event- possibly load objects into a truck and push truck down course. Possible implements- train wheel, sandbag, keg, and hussafel stone.

Any interest in this idea? We need at least 6 guys. If not, we'll scrap the thought of including the 105kg title.

I would be interested, but not going to go that far just too bomb. A lot of zeros going to happen.

If you haven't counted me, make that five.
OSM less than 231
2nd place CSM less than 231

Power is only given to those who are willing to lower themselves to pick it up.
