3rd Annual Rotary Club of Dundas

Strongman/Strongwoman Challenge for Novice Athletes



11:30 am weigh-ins, 12:15 pm event start!

We are always wrapped up by 4:30 pm!



Location: Dundas Driving Park, under the bandstand/main park pavilion; at the intersection of Cross Street and Alma Street in Dundas, Ontario

Entry: $40.00 entry fee, cheques payable to The Rotary Club of Dundas



Proceeds will go to supporting the local and international projects of the Rotary Club of Dundas including Routes Youth Centre, the Health Centre in Banda Aceh Indonesia, the Dundas ECOPARK, and the new Dundas Rotary Creekside Parkette and more: www.clubrunner.ca/dundas



Note that this event takes place in conjunction with the annual community Pancake Breakfast in the Dundas Driving Park. Approximately 700 people attend this event each year to celebrate Canada Day! Expect great crowds of supporters to stick around and watch this Annual Strength in the Valley event!



We’ve averaged 15 competitors the last few years – with at least three in a class allowing for some great participation and competition.

Late, onsite entry may be permitted the day of the contest; fee will be $50.00.

All athletes receive their official XPN Nutrition gear – shaker bottle, t-shirt and protein/sup samples



3rd Annual Strength in the Valley, July 1st 2014

Event Details and Rules
We will finalize these event details on the day of the event. Remember, our goal is to provide a challenging event, keeping in mind that many of our entrants are novice athletes. We reserve the right to alter these numbers or events on the day of the event, depending on our participants, the weather or any other unforeseen circumstances.

Event #1 Deadlift with a Car Frame with a four bar format performed in order; Straps and Deadlift suits allowed, conventional or sumo style as preferred, max # lifts in allotted time. (90 seconds).

Women’s Open Deadlift: Weight to be determined – approximately 250 pounds

Men’s under 220 lbs Deadlift: Weight to be determined – approximately 400 pounds

Men’s 220+ lbs Deadlift: Weight to be determined – approximately 550 pounds

Event #2
Medley to include pushing/pulling and loading for time (approximately 2 minute time cap)

Women’s Open Stone Weight: ~all weights/loads to be determined

Men’s under 220lbs Stone Weight: : ~all weights/loads to be determined


Men’s 220+ lbs Stone Weight: : ~all weights/loads to be determined


Event #3
Log Floor Press for max weight Event

Log will be handed to you from the “Rack” by your spotters.

Note that you are in a floor press position.

Referee will call the start and press commands.

Event #4

Tire Toss for Distance

Yep, you get to chuck a car tire as far as you can – ala track and field ‘discuss’ style! Each athlete has three attempts at this event.

2. We will finalize all weights/loads used based on the competitors on the day of the competition. Women, take note: we may go lighter, or have two weights to choose from. We are aiming to make this event success oriented, but challenging at the same time!
