OSM 2015 Final Results. A few highlights - Ben Ruckstuhl is again Ontario's Strongest Man. Several athletes set personal records, and an Ontario record for log press was tied (Joe DeWitt, with a 400 lb strict log press). The keg throw event was included for the first time ever, and was a great hit.

For those who are newer to the sport and wondering about event setup and selection, OSM is a contest designed to test and prepare our best athletes for the national and world stage. Events are heavier and platforms are higher - because they are heavier and higher at Canadians and at international events. It is expressly designed to promote the strongest and best-trained athletes to the next level. However, it is also an open contest, giving athletes the opportunity to measure themselves against the best in the province and to adjust their training as needed to bring them to that next level.

Thank you to Sean Bates for all of his hard work in pulling off a smoothly-run show, all of the athletes for their supreme efforts over the weekend, our sponsors - the Toronto Pro Supershow and RSSI - Travis Lyndon (our excellent referee, and the last Ontario athlete to compete at WSM), and most importantly, the many hundreds of fans for their support.

What happened with the Ontario's Strongest Woman event? Did it get cancelled or did you go ahead with it? If you did are there results you can post?

I believe it was cancelled due to low registration #'s. Not 100% sure but that was the word at the TPSS.

That's unfortunate. I guess that is often the issue with the women's shows though. A good turnout would require some active recruiting and advertising well in advance in the right places to get the word out. I'm sure there are enough Strongwomen out there but not enough who follow the sport closely enough to pull off a big show on shorter notice like was possible with the men.
