The 2015 OSM will be June 6th and 7th in Toronto.
It will be held in conjunction with the OSW and The Super Show at the international center for day two.
It will be day one qualifier that will be in Toronto at one of the sponsors locations in the GTA. this we will still need to confirm once we establish the best location.

The qualifier will be three events.
A deadlift event
A pressing event
A grip event. all TBD
Day one is open to all that wish to sign up.

Day two for top 12 Athletes
there will be 5 events on day two.
A deadlift event
A press event
Stones - first platform 72 inches.
An overall fitness event
Final event on main stage - giant dumbbell.

Registration will be open by Monday. there will be a 95 dollar entry fee for all competitor. All entry fees will be added to the pot for athlete prize money. The overall amount will depend on amount of sponsorships sold. We have already have a good amount of funds available but until we get a total we will not know the prize totals.

Other Good news
I got the information from Mike Saunders today that he will be bringing the top 4 from the OSM to this years Canadians. This will be the first time since 2001 that there will be four spots for Ontario.
Also we have an agreement to be at the Super Show for at least the next two years.

I know that 10 weeks is cutting it close but we final have some firm details coming in.
Once we have approved the firm events we will get them posted.
Any question send me a note. Feel free to promote details on your own media avenues.

Is this for the open weight/pro men? Assuming so do you have any insight on the lightweight/amateur men's provincials?

Looking good Sean...nice to be back at the Toronto Pro. Huge props for stepping up to put this on. If you want to borrow any of my equipment, let me know. Luke

Moody, I heard someone closer to you will be running that.

This is the open one I am guessing. I was going to attempt a show in the USA that weekend but this is where I have to compete. I injured myself just before last year's pro show and OSM. I want in.

Events are settling out. Day one, Standard deadlift for reps. Weight to be determined but will be north of the 585 mark. Shoulder event will be head to head yolk press. Height will be set at you nipples. Every rep touches the ground. Farmers walk will be head to head 75 feet each way. Again true inch and a half handles with a 14 inch pic height. 340 a hand. This is not a set order but they are set events for day one. Day two will include Max deadlift, Max log press, Stones to 400 and the big Dumbell press one hand north of 200. The fifth event Grant and I are still hammering out. The womens events will be the same as the men day one and day two will be the same as well but the 5th event will be different. I have set up paypal for registration fees at seanlisabates@yahoo.com
BTW we may see the return of Travis Lyndon. Still working out details with him.
We will get the standard registration and waiver forms posted tonight or tomorrow.

Sent in my registration and funds today.

One question that many guys are asking is, will the points carry over from Day 1 to Day 2?

So we're 5 weeks out now. Wondering if were going to get anymore specifics about the events, weights and perhaps the location of day 1.

Just show up strong and athletic and ready for anything. And IF you are strong and athletic ENOUGH you will just KNOW where to show up for Day 1, it comes to you in a vision where all the mystical secrets of strength and athleticism are revealed to you.

Hi all,

Apologies for my extended absence.

I have reached out to Sean and there will be a full update this weekend.

In the interim -

Plans are to have a keg throw event on Day 2, as there is now a full set of kegs available. Still waiting for event approval from the venue, as far as I know.

lmao adrian!!!!!

4 weeks out today and no specifics announced.

This seems to be a large contrast to the last 2 osms where very specific details regarding the location, adress, events and even judging rules were announced as far as 5 months out.

Day 1 qualifier location - to be confirmed by Monday AM, but will hopefully also be at the Toronto Pro Supershow, Metro Toronto Convention Centre, 255 Front St. West Toronto. Sean was holding off on the announcement until he had confirmation for both days, but had booked an alternate location as well "just in case". Further details by morning.

The qualifier will be three events, open to all.
Deadlift: 605 lb for reps from the floor, head to head
Yoke Press - head to head for reps
Farmer's Walk head-to-head, thick handles, 340+ lb

Day two - top 12 athletes

Axle deadlift 16" for max no straps
Giant dumbbell for reps
Stones - 245 to 400 lb to platforms: 72", 68", 64", 60", 56"
Keg throw series 15'6"
Final event on main stage - Log press for max.

HOTELS

Sean has been attempting to line up hotels downtown. Unfortunately, due to the 2015 PanAM / ParaPanAM Games in Toronto, the downtown hotels are fully booked, including both hotels at the event venue.

However, I have stayed at a few hotels in Etobicoke which were clean and affordable for Toronto (i.e. $100 - $105 per night) and still close to the MTCCC via the Gardiner (15 minutes). I can recommend either of these:

Canadas Best Value Inn Toronto
650 Evans Avenue, Toronto, ON M8W 2W6
T: 888-525-8346

Stay Inn Etobicoke
560 Evans Avenue
Toronto, ON M8W 2W1
T: 1.888.445.4473

Thanks for the update Grant. It is appreciated. Glad to see that things are coming together. Thanks to Sean for making this happen, your effort is appreciated. I know guys are frustrated about the amount of info provided so far but I'm sure Sean is doing his best. Organizing, staging and promoting the OSM isn't easy.

One safety point to mention is the "no straps' reference on axel deadlift. The vast majority of strongman competitions now allow for the use of lifting straps for deadlifts performed on an axel for safety reasons. Countless athletes have torn a biceps on this event (if anyone is unsure about this, ask Karl Gillingham for his opinion). I recommend straps be permitted or that this event be double overhand grip only. Straps will safely allow for more weight to be lifted and double overhand would be a test of grip. The last two pro shows that I was at with an axel deadlift (Warwick and Dubreuilville in 2013), the athletes protested with the referee before the event, and straps were allowed on the basis of athlete safety. Deadlifting with an axel vs. a standard bar makes the lift harder and reduces the numbers anyways. Once you start to go over 600lbs like this without straps, someone's arm will pop.
